VideoGuard Overview

VideoGuard is a Windows Media
Server plugin software. VideoGuard provides media files
access management. It allows Windows Media server to validate
users against an ODBC database.
VideoGuard can integrate the
authentication and authorization of a streaming media from Windows
media services with web pages. The web page inserts a session record
into database and redirects users to a streaming media URL.
VideoGuard retrieves this session record from database and validates
users access permission to this media.

How do I use VideoGuard ?
VideoGuard allows you to write
your own SQL command to authenticate users against ODBC database.
You simply configure VideoGuard to use your Data Source Name (DSN)
and SQL commands to query database for user record to validate
user's streaming request.
Why can't I just use Window Media Server without VideoGuard ?
The default setting of Window Media
Server doesn't protect streaming contents. The browser saves asx
files or streaming URLs to a temporary directory in local hard
drive before launching Windows Media Player. Whoever looks
into this directory can find the media URLs and have
access to the media contents. The Authentication packages in Window
Media Server do not provide an direct way to validate users against
an ODBC database.
VideoGuard provides an easy way to
help you to integrate your ODBC database with Windows Media
Server. VideoGuard allows you to set concurrent
user login, limit concurrent connection, and IP address restriction.
What are the requirements of VideoGuard ?
